IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, was brought to the Federal High Court, Abuja, this morning February 26 by operatives of the Department of State Services for the resumption of his trial. Kanu has been in DSS detention since July 2021 after he was repatriated from Kenya to Nigeria. The Federal Government had filed an amended 15-count charge of terrorism and treasonable felony against Kanu in 2021. The trial Judge, Justice Murtala-Nyako had struck out eight out of the 15 counts after ruling on the preliminary objection filed by counsel to Kanu challenging the legality of the charges. The IPOB leader had challenged the decision of the trial court to uphold seven out of the 15 counts as his preliminary objection had sought the outright dismissal of the entire charge. The court of appeal had dismissed the charges against Kanu on grounds that the Federal Government erred by extraordinarily extraditing him to Nigeria. The Supreme Court had, on 15 December 2023, ordered a continuation of Mr Kanu's trial on terrorism charges at the Federal High Court in Abuja. See more photos of Kanu in court this morning…
