All protocols duly observed.
On behalf of all Members of Methodist High School Owo Old Students' Association (METHSOOSA), I welcome you Sirs, our Chief Launchers, to this N250 Million Fund Raising Event; ditto all our distinguished Co-Launchers. Other Guests, and all our esteemed Members here present are highly welcomed. We thank God for bringing everyone here safely.
We are METHSOOSA, and we serve as the "rallying point for all Old Students of Methodist High School, Owo (MHSO), with the purpose of building and developing a virile Alma Mater".
Methodist High School, Owo - our Alma Mater, was founded in 1965, by the Methodist Church Nigeria. But in later years, the School was taken over by the Government of Western State - in the early 70s precisely.
Ever since, the Government (both Military and Civilian) has been abdicating its responsibilities in this running and management of the School, and this has led to the dilapidation of many facilities, and in shortage of Teachers being posted to the School, with its attendant adverse effect on the delivery of quality education. The Government's shortcomings, we were told, has been due to its dwindling resources.
The ultimate goal of Education is to train a Student in mind and in character, to enable him/her contribute meaningfully to human developments in the Society. And it is the School system that it's hoped that this objective is more actualised. This role MHSO has been playing since its inception in 1969.
The setting up of METHSOOSA is to key in to Education's goal, and help in assisting in the training of our growing Youths, for the betterment of themselves and the Society.
We stand as a Pressure Group, ensuring that MHSO is not left out, at any time, in the distribution of facility, and provision of adequate Teachers for Schools in Ondo State. We also serve as an Intervention organisation, augmenting Government provisions in the School.
In the past ten years, despite the lean resources available at our disposal, we have taken giant strides in the pursuit of these of our aims. We have carried out many Renovation works in the School; recruited and paid some Part-time Teachers. Some of our Members have sponsored many indigent and brilliant students in MHSO - all to further enhance effective learning in the School.
Our gathering here today, is another stage in our Intervention programmes.
We had called you Sirs and Mas, as responsible men and women of calibre, and on account of your pedigree as a kind hearted and benevolent person, with passion for this type of cause - total developments of MHSO - physically and academically. We believe your donation of money, and materials will go a long way in alleviating the challenges of infrastructural and academic deficits being experienced by the School for some time now.
In March 2025, Methodist High School, Owo will Celebrate its 60th Years Anniversary (Diamond Jubilee), and the following infrastructural developments need to be put in place, to give School the necessary facelift, that will meet both National and International thresholds.
In essence, your donations will be deployed to these areas of need:
1. Building a Modern Science Laboratory
2. E-Library
3. Perimeter fencing of the School premises/lands
4. Recruitment and remuneration of 10 Part-Time Teachers - covering 5 Academic Sessions (Oct. 2024 - July 2029)
5. Renovations of some Classrooms, and the Administrative Building
6. One 18 Seater School Bus
Also, the realisation of the N250 Million will make our Ten (10) Years Development Plan for MHSO a reality.
I thank you immensely Sirs and Mas for your anticipated Contributions, as I give a hint that your name will be etched in Gold in the annals of Methodist High School Owo, for the success of this Fund Raising.
I believe that there is a reward in giving, and God will bless you abundantly as you give generously to this worthy cause.
Distinguished Launchers, Ladies and Gentlemen, you are highly treasured, as I welcome everyone.
