The Regent of Akungba Akoko in Ondo State, Princess Oluwatoyin Omosowon, who was abducted 15 days ago by a gang of kidnappers yesterday regained freedom alongside five others including an Indian man, police officer and a female corps members.
One member of the gang said to be the leader was shot dead during the rescue operation while two others were arrested.
The rescue operation was carried out by a team of security operatives including men of the State Security Service and the Nigerian Army.
Director, State Security Service, Mr Christian Onyebuchi Ojibor, told newsmen that they were able to rescue the victims due to the cooperation received from their headquarters in Abuja.
Princess Omosowon, while narrating her experience in the kidnappers den said she was beaten up several times.
“I started fasting and praying to God. I hid the food they gave me but only survived on the bottled soft drink they provided. They also told me that someone had paid money for my life so they will have to kill me unless my people pay N200 million to buy me back. They also asked whether I knew Governor Mimiko,” she said.
She added that a policeman was later picked up to join them. The policeman identified as Obate Sunday was said to be travelling with the Indian who was identified simply as Alux T.J.
