APC USA Task Diaspora Nigerians to Resolve Destitute and Almajiri Issues by 2019 - BY FRANCIS JOHN

APC USA International Secretariat tasked Diaspora Nigerians to step-up, address pertinent issues in Nigeria, not limited: Destitute and Almajiri issues in repugnance of being used for socio-political gains!

We believe Diaspora Nigerians will have the best expertise and approach in resolving these  issues, reason being, the ongoing issues are not strange, and Diaspora Nigerians are part and parcel of this national setback as it boils down to our places of origin. A collective-committed approach will bring about resolving the imbedded and ignored matters!

A hand full of Nigerians work in the healthcare industry, the largest and growing industry in the world, consistently seeking huge manpower in addressing international concerns, similar to Nigerian issues. The reason why Diaspora Nigerians respective expertise should be engaged, an outlook directed towards our beloved country’s special needs, for progressive changes. The earlier we get started, the better, hence as needed:

  • Conduct site and situation assessments;

  • Tap into records/data;

  • Involve Local and International Organizations;

  • Engage stakeholders, community and opinion leaders;

  • Seek volunteers, etc.

Diaspora Nigerians have been seen to be masters of the game, most especially in the United States and United Kingdom, raising from the bottom to the top in their careers and known in setting up similar small businesses.  Successful Diaspora Nigerians are ascribed to be very successful in these practices:

  • Adult/Children Daycares;

  • Substance Abuse/Rehabilitation Centers;

  • Supported Living/Group Homes;

  • Respite care/End of Life;

  • Mental Retardations/Developmental Disabilities;

  • Counselling Psychology;

  • Medicine Production;

  • Non-Emergency Medical Transportation, etc.

This is an international call and outreach to Diaspora Nigerians willing to #GiveBackNigeria and to acknowledge the good efforts of those Nigerians already taking medical equipment, medications and surgeons (to perform free surgeries). The likes / works of Ms. Masi Ada Usiade – Diaspora Woman Leader, Dr. Francis Ogbolu – Urologist, etc. Their exemplary services to humanity cannot be over-emphasized, consequently, all are encouraged to carry forward this commitment, as the President Muhammadu Buhari picks technocrats - party executives for ministers shortly.

Hard talk, we cannot afford to wait on the government anymore, until Diaspora Nigerians and Nigerian government are able to accept each other, develop trust and confidentiality, exchange hands in partnership, give Diaspora equal opportunities as to other nationals, Nigeria may never get to its rightful position. The government must provide an enabling environment without restrictions with full benefits. Nigeria must realize that technology is not transferable but taken!

We also enjoin Diaspora Nigerians to learn from the successes of Asians living all over the world; play, teamwork, collaborate and denounce ethnic inclinations, as Nigerians worldwide exhibited in 2015 polls. Timeout to blame anyone, clock-in to merge individual or collectively, considering the predicaments of President Muhammadu Buhari to bring about sustainable-formidable united Nigeria by 2019.

Credit should be given to the Lagos State Government, for being the first to set the ball rolling, hastily created Ministry of Diaspora and Investments. A longtime yearning came into fulfillment in 2015. A confirmation to Diaspora Nigerians, there’s light at the end of the tunnel; a worthy and exemplary development for states and the federal government to follow, including political parties.

Signed

Francis John
