Six Bank employees diverted and shared N369m State Government Money

The manager and 5 other employees of First City Monument Bank, FCMB, Asaba branch has been arrested by policemen attached to the Department of Criminal Investigation, Delta State Police Command, for allegedly diverting N369m belonging to the state government into fake accounts.

The suspects; Mrs. Felicia Omoyenu (Manager), Stella Otioere, Luke Obasa, Frank Obiorah, Maureen Joseph and Jane Kuyi, were reportedly arrested on Tuesday, July 4th, after they had allegedly diverted the funds.

DAILY POST reports that the informant, an employee of the State Internal Revenue Board who was in hiding following alleged threats by some relations of the suspects, leaked the “deal” to the authorities, which raised eyebrows and attracted the police’s attention.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mrs. Celestina Kalu, confirmed the arrest of the suspects.

According to report, the suspects, upon interrogation, confessed that they had shared the money.

The police said that during their investigation, about N70m was found in the manager’s son’s account and the five other suspects said they were only given meager sums.

Mrs Kalu, today, Friday 7th, said the suspects have been granted bail after two days in detention.

Meanwhile investigation into the alleged fraud is ongoing.”
