This was the result of investigations carried out by some private journalists who painstakingly went underground to unveil the rot that goes on in some of the homes run by unregistered bodies and non-governmental agencies.

It was also discovered that baby boys sell for between N200,000 and N300,000 while baby girls go for between N150,000 and N200,000, depending on the financial power of the buyer.
The girls who give birth are paid a meager N50,000 and are made to undergo the operation between four and five times. Some of the girl, mostly secondary school students, had to abandon their studies and go into the business of making and selling babies.
The report also state that some officials in the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in the state are also part of such deals because they make sure the buyer can get the paper works for adoption with the exchange of some money
