“I did not find any money in the offering box " Man remanded in prison for stealing church’s musical equipment

A 26-year-old man, Cheka Samuel, has been remanded in prison custody by an Isolo Magistrate’s Court in Lagos, for allegedly stealing musical instruments belonging to a church.

DAILY POST gathered that the accused, during interrogation at Ajao Estate Police Division, reportedly revealed that he had no intention to steal the instruments.

“I was compelled to do so because I did not find any money in the offering box,” he noted.

Mrs Joy Ugbomoiko, the Presiding Magistrate, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum and ordered that he be remanded in prison custody at Kirikiri, pending when he will perfect his bail.

Cheka, however, pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him.
