Priest kidnapped, abductors asking for N16m ransom.

The pastor of Apostolic Faith church, Ilepa, in Ikare Akoko, Reverend Japhet Obafemi has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

The 70 year-old clergyman was said to have been abducted along Auga-Akunnu road, near Ondo-Kogi states border in Akoko north-east local government area of the state.

It was gathered that the abductors have contacted the family of the victim, demanding for N16million ransom.

Pastor Obafemi had earlier been declared missing by his family and church members on Wednesday.

A church member who preferred anonymity, disclosed that both the victim’s family and church could not raise such ransom and appealed to the Ondo State government and security operatives to secure his release.

The caretaker chairman of Akoko north east local government, Alhaji Azeez Al-amam confirmed the incident.

Also confirming the incident, the divisional police officer, DPO in charge of the area, Mr. Musliyu Sogbade said efforts were being made to rescue the septuagenarian priest.
