Mr Nimram Longbap-Longs, the President of Arewa, a socio-cultural Nigerian group in South Africa, on Thursday urged Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari in the fight against corruption.
Longbap-Longs told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bloemfotein, South Africa, that the fight against corruption should not be left to the president alone.
“I urge President Buhari to sustain the fight against corruption.
“Nigerians should assist him in this struggle because it will be in our collective interest if corruption is finally eliminated.
“We will reap the benefits of a corruption-free society,” he said.
Longbap-Longs also urged the Federal Government to invest in agriculture to create employment, earn revenue and boost food production.
“Nigeria is blessed with good soil and weather for agriculture. We have the potentials to earn more revenue from agriculture than oil and gas.
“Nigeria can learn from South Africa on how they developed agriculture and made it a commercial venture,” he said.
He also said that Nigerian agricultural experts in South Africa and other countries should be recalled to assist government develop the sector.
“These Nigerians are willing to come home to assist in developing agriculture.
“They have not received any encouragement to do so. Government could use the foreign missions to contact and encourage them to come home,” he said.
