A man stormed into a church in Kisumu town on Tuesday afternoon to demand back Sh200,000 that his wife had given as tithe.
The man, who refused to talk to journalists, stormed Jesus Elevation Tabernacle Church as the congregation conducted an afternoon service.
The man reportedly shouted at the church’s leaders to give him back the money that his wife had taken to the church.
“My wife did not consult me nor inform me that she was bringing the cash here, and pastor don’t talk to me roughly, respect me so that I can respect you,” the angry man shouted.
‘TRICKED WIFE’
The man claimed that this was not the first time the pastor of the church had “tricked his wife to give him such a large amount of money in pretense that he is praying for her to cleanse her possessed house.”
The ensuing commotion attracted passers-by who gathered at the church entry to witness the drama.
Members of the public who gathered at the scene to see the woman were stopped at the church’s entrance by ushers and guards.
The pastor of the church declined to talk to journalists and insisted that there was nothing wrong.
“There is nothing to talk about here, everything is okay “one church official told journalists.
Inside the church, the congregation sang happily with ushers welcoming and directing in their members as though nothing was amiss.
Eventually, the angry man left the church empty handed.
Church officials called police officers to restore calmness at the church’s entrance as a big crowd converged.
