Lolade Fell Asleep While Working On a Paper In A Common Room at Yale University, Then a White Student Called The Cops On Her! Featured

Lolade Siyonbola, a  34-year old, post-graduate student of African Studies in Yale University, was working on a paper in the Hall of Graduate Studies when she fell asleep in a common room.

Another female student, Sarah Braasch, came in, turned on the lights and told her, “why are you sleeping here? You’re not supposed to be sleeping here. I’m going to call the police.”

That encounter wasn’t Lolade’s first with Sarah, a Philosophy PhD student, as she explained that Sarah had once called the Police on one of her (Lolade) friends, a few months earlier.

“Today, she messed- again- with the wrong one,” Lolade wrote on her Facebook page.

When the police officers that Sarah called on her arrived and asked for her identification, Lolade provided it, telling them that, “I deserve to be here. I pay tuition like everybody else. I’m not going to justify my existence here. I really don’t know if there’s a justification for you actually being in the building.”

Lolade posted videos of the incident on her Facebook page and this has generated a lot of reactions from people.

“This sorta incident breaks my heart everytime… Why do white folks always call police on black folks all the time why?!!!” one of the comments read.
