VIDEO: Coast Guards seize cocaine worth more than $260m

The United States Coast Guard has seized a shipload of cocaine worth more than $260m.

Taking to its verified Twitter handle, the USCG notes that approximately 7,800kg of cocaine was seized in the eastern Pacific Ocean earlier this month.

“The wholesale value of the seized cocaine is estimated at more than $260m,” it says in the tweet.

It reports that a U.S. Coast Guardsman aboard an interceptor boat had launched from the Coast Guard Cutter Steadfast, and had pursued a suspected smuggling vessel as the suspected smugglers threw bales of what was suspected to be cocaine overboard during a high-speed chase in international waters of the Eastern Pacific Ocean on July 11, 2018.

“The suspected smugglers were able to evade capture but the interdiction resulted in the seizure of 7,800kg of cocaine,” it was reported.
