Speaking to Newsmen on Tuesday in Lagos, the Director General of the campaign platform, Rt. Hon. Victor Olabimtan stated that though Mr Bola Ajimuda is a member of the party and a staunch supporter of Mr Rotimi Akeredolu but at no time was he appointed the Director of Communications of the campaign as claimed by him on Channels Tv.
Ajimuda had on Channels Tv’s Politics Today on Sunday described an aggrieved governorship aspirant of the party, Dr Olusegun Abraham as a man without character and integrity, questioning “how a man with an ordinary National Diploma certificate and a Plumber by profession could aspire to be the Governor of a state that places much value on education?”
But Olabimtan, a former Speaker of the state House of Assembly said Ajimuda acted on his own and not on behalf of the Akeredolu’s campaign platform.
Olabimtan said Ajimuda’s conducts contradicts the modicum of operations of the campaign platform.
“Let me say expressly that Mr Bola Ajimuda is a committed member of our party and a staunch supporter of Barrister Rotimi Akeredolu, however, he’s not the spokesman of our campaign platform, neither was he authorized to speak on our behalf. He acted on his own.
“I want to say for the records and for posterity that the Akeredolu campaign platform did not send Ajimuda to Channels Tv neither did our candidate who is globally known for virtue and respect for Elders, authorise Ajimuda to speak on his behalf.” He said.
Olabimtan added that the Akeredolu campaign respect the person of Dr. Olusegun Abraham and would never at anytime subject him to ridicule.
He cautioned party members and supporters against making provocative statement that could truncate the peace move initiated by the National Working Committee of the party to appease aggrieved party members who felt dissatisfied by the outcome of the September 3rd governorship primaries of the party.
