Hajia Buhari assures Dame Jonathan that she and her husband will not be arrested

ALL Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate General Muhammadu Buhari's wife Hajia Aisha Buhari has assured first lady Dame Patience Jonathan that she will not be jailed if her husband loses Nigeria's forthcoming elections.

With Nigeria's March 28 presidential elections between President Goodluck Jonathan and General Buhari looking like a tight race, the rhetoric between the two sides has heated up lately. Of late, rumour has been rife that if General Buhari wins, he will arrest President Jonathan and his wife and Hajia Buhari sought to allay those fears yesterday.

Speaking in Benin, the Edo State capital, Hajia Buhari said Dame Jonathan and her husband have the fear of going to jail if General Buhari emerged the winner of the elections. She added that the country had long suffered from bad governance, so her husband would not have time to witchhunt anybody.

Hajia Buhari added: “For those that are campaigning, saying that Buhari is coming to jail Nigerians, I don’t know what their fear is. However, they shouldn’t be afraid because we are all yearning for change.

“With the insecurity in the country, the very poor healthcare system, lack of education and other basic necessities that people are lacking, I believe Nigerians need somebody like General Muhammadu Buhari now Already, they have painted him black, using religion but I’m happy today that Nigerians realise that they use religion as a cover to loot Nigeria.”

According to Hajia Buhari, some of the problems that her husband will tackle if elected include girl-child trafficking and unemployment. While urging women to uphold and not sell their permanent voter cards but to use them to vote for a new Nigeria, she however assured the people that her husband’s administration would uphold the development of the girl-child, if elected.

“I am here today to say that when my husband is elected into the office of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, all these problems are going to be history. The insecurity, girl-child trafficking and the suffering of the widows in the southeast will all come to an end,” Hajia Buhari added.

Edo State's Governor Adams Oshiomhole stressed that the APC desired to deliver quality development and achieve success in the various sectors of the country, especially in the area education and job creation, as it had done in his state. He noted that the party was known for workable projects rather than symbolic projects.
