An Abuja Federal High Court has ordered Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Buruji Kashamu, to submit himself to the police for investigation, following allegation of his alleged attempt to murder a member of the House of Representatives representing Ikene/Shagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency, Oladipupo Adebutu.
Adebutu had in a petition dated August 22, 2016 to the Police boss alleged threat to his life by the Ogun East Senator.
The Reps member had alleged that the Senator had along with some thugs attempted to assassinate him during the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, convention held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State on August 16, 2016.
Responding to the threat, Kashamu wrote a counter-petition dated August 26, 2016, to the police boss claiming that Adebutu was instigating the police and the Depertment of State Services, DSS, to abduct and transport him to the US over illicit drugs charges.
Kashamu claimed in the counter-petition that he had been cleared of the drugs charges and in violation of court orders stopping him from being extradited.
The judge, however, held that any attempt by security agencies, particularly the police and the DSS to capitalise on the said investigation by arresting the senator, incarcerating him and transporting him to the US to face illicit drugs charges would be unlawful.
