Change the status quo: Form a new formidable Political Party. By Pastor Amos Dada

I have watched from a distance the political landscape of Nigeria and using spiritual binoculars I have seen the trajectory that we are going and it is very intimidating unless something drastic is done.

For 16 years PDP led this nation from nowhere to graveyard. They abused the corporate sense of Nigeria and Nigerians. They pilfered the life blood of the nation, the oil, natural resources, Human Resources and wasted them. They trashed the educational system and they blatantly refused to develope the land. They chopped the head of the nation like ‘isiewu’ soup. The youth and the elderly were made to dance in the market place naked. The youth were technically driven away from their villages and hamlets to find succour in the diaspora through the Mediterranean Sea and harsh desert regions of the world but many of them perished before reaching their projected dream land. I was in Warri last December (2017) where I asked after a young man that I know for sure has a wonderful future. Unfortunately, I was told that he had perished in the Mediterranean Sea while another one died in Libya. I wept.

Afterwards, the masses were deceived by APC with a mantra: - change! They stated, we shall reverse all the woes of PDP. We shall fight corruption, we shall develop the economy $1-=N= 1. We shall not only secure your borders but we shall protect the territorial integrity of the land. Boko Haram? Consider it dead. Infrastructure will be developed, we shall build four refineries, no more fuel shortages.

The helpless poor masses sang their praises and voted them in massively. Almost 3 years now (yes small compared to 16 years! but the Yorubas say: "the eye that will last you from morning till night will not start with mucous") not much have changed. It is obvious if APC is allowed to continue beyond 2019, Nigerians shall weep like the Israelites in Babylon even though we never had Zion. “By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.”

As if the fact that the Fulani  herdsmen are killing us is not enough problem, the lackadaisical and non-chalant attitude of Nigerian leaders to the killings is quite perplexing! How can over 70 human beings be slaughtered by Fulani herdsmen for cattle in Benue State and the President does not have the human heart to visit the place? To worsen the matter, he now commands the leaders who are mourning their wives and children, sons and daughters to come and ‘see him at Aso rock’ where his buttocks are glued to his chair. What a shame ! What level of wickedness, callousness and insensitivity!

How can we continue with this APC led government who are now planning with the legislature to make this heartless and barbaric calamity a regular occurrence through their bills that will allocate permanent place of slaughter throughout the nation to the Fulani herdsmen instead of enlarging the prison yard to accommodate them there.  How can we continue with APC's cluelessness in governance?

But the greater danger is that the same old PDP is gathering momentum to re-capture power as an alternative to APC. God forbid!

What then could be a solution to this national dilemma?

My strong suggestion is that there should be a new political party, as each of these two parties will always take advantage of the nation if there is no viable alternative to them. So, other registered political parties should gather themselves to form a strong political party that will learn from the past and be committed to right the wrong of their wicked predecessors.  Hopefully, such a party will salvage us and not eat the nation with their ten fingers. Hopefully, it will be a party that will fear God and respect human dignity.

Hopefully it will be a party that will take us from Egypt or better still wilderness to the promised land - the land that flows with milk and honey that we all dream off.  Surely Nigeria needs a brand new set of Calebs and Joshuas, men of uncommon faith, boldness, integrity, fairness, passion, compassion and drive.
