A former Minister of Education, Prof. Nora Obaji, has said that the President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration lacks discipline, internal democracy and command and control strategy.
Obaji said the administration also promoted abuse of rules and privileges.
The former minister, who spoke to our correspondent in Owerri, capital of Imo State, stated that what Nigeria needed at the moment was a disciplined leader that would handle national problems decisively.
She noted that many problems under Jonathan were not adequately addressed, citing the Boko Haram insurgency, financial misappropriations and kidnapping as examples.
Obaji said ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo commanded and controlled the country and that the upheavals witnessed under Jonathan were not crushed for national peace to prevail.
“With the type of man Maj. Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) is, he will go according to the rules and if the rules are comprehensively implemented everybody will be in the national picture,” she said.
Obaji said she left the Peoples Democratic Party because of high level of injustice and imposition that engulfed the party.
“People were handpicked against the wishes of the masses. For instance, PDP had three-man delegates per ward while All Progressives Congress had 25 and even the three-man delegates were handpicked. Their case in the Imo governorship is not exceptional and that is why the party as of today is still in court over who is the substantive candidate. Many disciplined politicians, owing to some of these irregularities, left the party and that is why today the party is in opposition.”
