General Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, as Nigeria’s President- Elect.
Your Excellency Hajia Aisha Buhari:
Good day Hajia: We hope this letter meets you in peace and good health. The Executive and entire membership of the Women’s wing of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Diaspora Canada chapter, are pleased to send you this letter of congratulations on the landmark victory recorded by your husband. General Muhammadu Buhari thus makes him the President-elect of Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation. .
Upon his inauguration come May 29, 2015, Insha Allah, our country would be having in your good self a brand new First Lady already acclaimed worldwide as a fresh breath of decency, grace, sound education, beauty, impeccable family values and intelligence all rolled into one, unlike what we have experienced in the very recent past. Please permit us to admit that we are very delighted by these quoted qualities and are proud to have someone like you to further raise the profile of our fellow women in Nigeria and worldwide.
Further still, we are encouraged by your stated response when asked how you would prepare for your upcoming role as the nation’s First Lady: "I don’t think there is need for any special preparation to be in the spotlight as the wife of the president, because I will be like any other woman.
"However, for the kind of preparation you are referring to, having been married to a former president for over 25 years, and knowing his principles and what he believes, as an honest and upright person, I will only pursue issues that will promote the welfare of the masses.",”
We here in Canada agree with you entirely on the above point and are actually blown away by your tone of humility as well as your desire to lift the status of women in Nigeria. .
For your information, APC Canada Chapter is a member-based association of Diaspora Canadian-Nigerians who espouse the values, beliefs and ideals of Nigeria’s greatest party, APC. Our very diverse membership is drawn from CPC, ACN, ANPP, APGA as well as some former PDP members who shared the values and visions of APC. APC Canada is registered with Industry Canada, the Government agency responsible for registration of Corporations and Organizations in Canada.
We will continue to follow your progress in your stated roles and objectives and give all the support a Diaspora Nigerian woman can give to her nation’s #1 woman leader, including, but not limited to, mobilization and awareness activities at home and abroad. One of these will be our proposed APC Diaspora Mega Convention being put together for some time in 2015 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada’s capital city. This would attract Nigerians from everywhere in the Diaspora as well as from Nigeria, our homeland. A more formal and detailed information will be provided upon request.
Best regards
