Niger State Governor, Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu, has urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), not to pray for the failure of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led government.
Speaking at the College of Education, Minna yesterday when he commissioned some TERTFund projects, the governor said rather, PDP members should work towards regaining power in 2019.
Insisting that the failure of any government will impact negatively on everyone, including the PDP members, he enjoined all to “pray for the success of APC government because if you pray for failure of APC you will suffer, because you suffer for failure of any government”.
He noted that the rise of G7 group of governors was to correct the wrongs in the PDP, saying the defection of his former colleagues in the party strengthened APC and brightened the chances of president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari and other elected persons.
The governor, however, warned against turning the nation to a one party state, adding “we should not go back to one party state, we must have a virile opposition and we saw that coming when the political parties merged”.
He said the merger and the defection of the governors as well as failure to honour the agreement of one term signed by President Goodluck Jonathan were responsible for the political tsunami that hit the PDP.
“When the first election took place, people were shocked when they came and I was the one telling them to take it easy, and I said God in His infinite mercy has made me see it coming; when I raised the issue of an agreement they thought I was a liar but believe me there was,” he said.
