The European Union (EU) on Saturday said, although Nigeria as a nation is rich, it's citizens are poor. It therefore called on the President-elect, retired Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari to make sure that Nigerians enjoyed dividends of democracy. The EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Mr Michel Arrion, said this at the Europe Day 2015 in Abuja.
The Ambassador said, democracy is nothing to the common man if it cannot improve their standard of living. He also called on Mr. Buhari not to forget his promises to Nigerians while urging him to include national integration on the list of his priorities. Arrion commended Nigerians for the success of the 2015 elctions. He also eulogized President Jonathan for accepting defeat in the last concluded general elections.
