It appears that spirited effort by some concerned members of the peoples Democratic Party, PDP to revive the party is suffering setback as their repeated pleas to former President Olusegun Obasanjo on the need to help resurrect the party have been rebuffed by the former leader. The PDP lost the presidential election as well as majority in the National Assembly, subsequently assuming the status of the opposition party.
Close allies of the former President said, concerned party members have continued to pressurized Obasanjo both through visits and phone calls. The former leader has however repeatedly told them that he is done with party politics and it would have been possible for him to return to the PDP if he had not torn his membership card publicly. Mr. Obasanjo told journalists that any possibility of him returning to the party has been foreclosed.
