Aisha Buhari has apologised to Nigerians for the economic hardship and insecurity experienced under the Buhari administration.
“The regime might not have been a perfect one, but I want to seize this opportunity to seek forgiveness from the Ulamas and Nigerians,” she said.
The First Lady was among the dignitaries who attended the 62nd Independence Day prayer and lecture at the National Mosque Conference Hall, Abuja.
Senate President Ahmad Lawan represented President Muhammadu Buhari.
His wife urged the people to pray for a peaceful transition of power after the 2023 general elections.
“This government is making its exit and witnessing the last anniversary of the regime, I ask Nigerians to pray for a successful election.”
She lauded security agencies for their efforts and sacrifice in the fight against terrorism, kidnapping, and others.
The founder of Future Assured Foundation further wished them more success in their operations.
