Saraki is now the elected new Senate President

Senator Bukola Saraki, has emerged as the President-elect of the eight Senate in an election where he was the only candidate nominated. He has already been sworn in.

In a tension soaked National Assembly inauguration, Senator Bukola Saraki defied all entries from the All Progressive Party to assuage him for Senate President’s position.

Senator Ahmed Sani Yerima in a surprise motion moved for the nomination of Bukola Saraki. There was no one present to nominate Senator Ahmed Lawan.

The motion seconded by Senator Dino Melaye was agreed on consensus.

DAILY POST findings show that the Party hierarchy earlier this morning agreed to Saraki’s ambition so as not to polarise the party.

Senator Ike Ekweremadu has equally been nominated for the Deputy Senate President’s position. DAILY POST gathered that all PDP Senators have agreed to put in their own person so as to be involved in the affairs of National Assembly. Also nominated was Senator Ali Ndume from Borno State.

This will be the first time since the return of Democracy where two different political parties will be forming the leadership of the Senate.

DAILY POST reports that there was wild jubilation in the chambers of National Assembly by supporters and friends of Senator Bukola Saraki over his ascendancy to the seat of Senate Presidency.

Leading the pack of jubilant were mostly of Peoples Democratic Senators who stoutly stood behind him on consensus arrangement.

DAILY POST reports that some APC senators are still meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the International Conference Centre on the contending issues of the Senate and House of Reps leadership.
