To see me is free: People paid $50,000 to see Jonathan, $30,000-$50,000 to see Dame Patience —Buhari’s wife

Wife of the President, Hajia Aisha Buhari, has alleged that during the last administration, people were said to have paid as much as $30,000 to $50,000 to book appointments to see the former First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, while a higher sum was paid to see her husband.

Hajia Buhari warned extortionists who delight in fixing appointments for the President or First Lady, saying they will not be tolerated under the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

She gave the warning on Saturday when she hosted All Progressives Congress (APC) women and youths to an elaborate reception at the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The event was tagged, “Appreciation Dinner” to thank APC stakeholders for working for her husband’s victory in the March 28 presidential election.

She noted that it took Buhari 12 years to get to this position today and those coming around him must be ready to serve the masses and not the person of Buhari, adding: “It is the people that are around him that will determine the political health of our state.”

According to Hajia Buhari, “There was nothing that people did not say about the past administration. It is not Jonathan that is not good, but the people around him.

“So, the people that are going to be around General Buhari have to be very careful because this election ended peacefully. We are praying and hoping that people around him should know that it took him 12 years to get to that position and they must know that they are coming to serve the masses, not General Buhari in person.

“It is the people that are around him that will determine the political health of our state.”
