APC Chieftain Threatens to Drag The Nation Newspapers to Court

A Warri based Legal Practitioner and Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chief Felix Edewor has threatened to drag the nation newspapers to court for defaming his character.

This is in reaction to the Newspaper's publication of a story entitled "How Warri pastor, Canada-based Deltan got into trouble over N11m property scam" in its June 19, 2015 edition.

In a protest letter to the newspaper made available to journalists in Lagos, Counsel to Chief Edewor, Paul Omozele Esq. argued that the newspaper acted in error by publishing a false information and litany of lies against his client Chief Edewor whom he described as a highly respected Chief and Legal Practitioner.

Paul Omozele Esq. stated that in the first place the charge quoted by the nation newspaper in the publication with (Charge No MW/5/C/2015) has nothing to do with Chief Felix Edewor as the charge is against some other persons for the offence of Robbery and Firearms as against the issue of a property sale but the Newspaper falsely made the publication mala fide (in bad faith). Please find published the certified true copy of the charge.

Chief Edewor's counsel therefore wonders why the newspaper threw caution to the wind and abandoned the time tested ethics of journalism when they failed to verify their facts and tried to raise false alarm over a matter that is already pending before the court.

He also contended that Chief Edewor has at no time contested on the platform of the PDP as erroneously and mischievously claimed by the newspaper but on that of the ANPP where he ran for the Ethiope Federal Constituency of the House of Representatives in the 2011 elections before ANPP fused into the APC where he is now a respected Party Leader in Delta State.

According to his Counsel, as a card carrying member of the APC Chief Edewor was also actively involved in the 2015 elections which produced President Mohammadu Buhari as he helped to float the APC National Councillors Forum which played an active part in the polls.

In the letter to the Nation Newspaper Paul Omozele Esq. urged the media organisation to retract the publication within 7 days or face legal action.
