The defection of the former top government officials and other PDP members is coming few months to the governorship election in Kogi State in Nigeria’s north-central region.
The leader of the APC in Kogi State, Abubakar Audu, received the defected members on Wednesday at a rally held in Ayingba, Eastern Senatorial District of the state.
Audu expressed optimism that the defection of the former top government officials and members of the PDP would boost the popularity and chances of the APC in the November 21 governorship poll in Kogi State.
The APC leader further asserted that the time had come for change in Kogi State, reiterating his party’s determination to take over leadership from the ruling PDP.
On behalf of the defected members, Mrs Alfa said that the PDP government failed to meet the aspirations of the people, which led to their defection.
The former PDP leader then urged the party supporters to come out en-masse to vote for the APC in the forthcoming governorship election.
She also added that the APC was the only party that could bring about the anticipated development and peace in Kogi State.
