A cash crunch has hit the Nigerian House of Representatives as lawmakers salaries haven't been paid salaries for the past 2 months, Punch reports.
Some members of the house are beginning to express worries as their June and July salaries haven't been paid and their bills are piling up.
Speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, took hours to lament the poor financial situation of the House during a crucial close-door meeting with his colleagues in Abuja yesterday.
He reportedly told the long-faced lawmakers that he's in a similar condition and that "there is no money anywhere".
It's believed that delayed releases by the finance ministry is one of the factors contributing to the cash crunch facing the lawmakers.
