Names of Ministers Who're Allegedly Corrupt or Have Close Relations With Fraudsters

The Nigerian senate has confirmed the appointment of President Muhammadu Buhari's nominees as ministers of the federation.    

However there are reports that some of these nominees are corrupt and have at one time or the other stolen from the country's treasury.

Here are ministers who've had a corrupt allegation in the past.


  • Rotimi Amaechi has had a petition stopping his confirmation. He's been alleged to have looted the Rivers state treasury of billions from 2007 to 2015. Reports say he stole $700 million and $150 million from that money was used to sponsor Buhari and APC for the 2015 elections.
  • Babatunde Fashola according to reports built his personal website for N78 million, drilled borehole for over N100 million per each and built a kilometre road for N1 billion. He stole $900 million from 2007-2015.
  • James Ocholi is alleged to have high-caliber fraud suspects. Reports say he represents several controversial clients including an Indian accused of defrauding several Nigerian banks of billions of naira)
  • Kayode Fayemi - The former Ekiti state governor allegedly stole $40 million and stashed some part of the loot in Ghana. He also reportedly bought a bed for N50 million.
  • Aisha Alhassan She was accused of embezzlement as Chief Registrar of the Federal Capital Territory High Court from 2003 to 2009. She has married thrice and it was never because a husband died
