Amaechi left huge debt burden for Rivers – SSG

The Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Chief Kenneth Kobani, on Tuesday said the current administration of Chief Nyesom Wike inherited a huge debt burden from the immediate past government of Rotimi Amaechi.

Kobani, while speaking with journalist in Port Harcourt, the state capital accused the former governor of leaving a state that is economically bankrupt.

Speaking on the economy of the state, Kobani stated that Wike-led government had ‘diligently’ revived the economy of the state.

The state APC had recently criticized the management of Rivers economy by the state governor, describing it as unacceptable.

But the SSG maintained that it was wrong for the opposition party to complain about the economy of the state, adding that the current administration worked hard to defray the huge debt and financial obligations left behind by the then APC government.

Kobani also noted that APC’s claims on the current state of Rivers economy were false and baseless.

“The indebtedness of the immediate past APC administration in Rivers State is what this administration is still grappling with. These APC people are jobless and they just want to hear their voices on radio,” Kobani said.
