Kogi Decides: 1.3m file out to elect new gov

 

No fewer than 1,351,313 electorate are expected to file out today to elect a candidate of their as governor of the state to pilot the affairs for next for years.

Period to now,the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had cleared 22 candidates and their running mates to contest the horse race to the Lugard House, the seat of power.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has concluded arrangement for the conduct of free,fair,credible and acceptable governorship election in Kogi State.

The Chairman of Independent Electoral Commission,Professor Mahmood Yakubu has assured Nigerians that the Commission will conduct credible election in the state, stressing that the preparation is in top gear for the conduct of governorship election in Kogi state.

Professor Yakubu also disclosed that over 13,000 ad-hoc staff have been recruited and trained, while NYSC corps members will be participating as electoral officers.

He added that over 3700 Smart Card Readers have been deployed to the 21 local government areas of the state, pointing that the card readers have been charged and configured.

Professor Yakubu explained 3 national commissioners have been deployed to man each of the three senatorial districts, while 11 Residents Electoral Commission RECs from other states.

He stated that both sensitive and non sensitive materials have been distributed to polling units ahead of today election.

On the Security, the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Solomon Aranse has deployed over 13,000 police men and 21 units of Mobile men to provide adequate security before during and after election in the state.
