Michael Abiodun

Mike Olu Akinlabi who is now a PhD holder shared his grass to grace story.

Olu wrote this inspiring story on his wall;

“20 years ago, the only thing I had was a dream. Though I had beautiful dreams, the physical resources to meet my heart desires were beyond my reach. I was homeless, worked as a motor boy or bus conductor (Nigerians will understand this)…. Despite all these challenges, I dedicated at least 2 hours each day to develop myself. I was told several times to quit trying. I was told to stop dreaming….

To keep the story short, in 2006 I had my first degree and I graduated top in my class. In 2010, an MSc; in 2011, an MPhil from the University of Cambridge; in 2016, a PhD in Criminology and Criminal Justice from Griffith University Australia.”

The name Aloysius Ikegwuonu has been trending on social media since the devastating attack at St. Philip’s Catholic church in Ozubulu, Anambra state.

After visiting the church, Willie Obiano, governor of Anambra, said the incident was the fallout of a feud between two brothers who are based abroad.

Reports have it that the gunman had invaded the church in search of Ikegwuonu, popularly known as “Bishop”, who is said to be having a prolonged misunderstanding with a relative whose name is yet to be ascertained.

Although not much is known about Ikegwuonu, there are reports that he is a drug dealer based in South Africa.

According to reports, in 2015, a gang war broke out in South Africa between two drug cartels which led to deaths of over 15 people, both in South Africa and Nigeria.

Despite the negative reputation, people in his community see him as a philanthropist.

He is said to have tarred some roads in his community – Amakwa Ozubulu in Ekwusigo local government area – and had also contributed to the building of St. Aloysius Church of Divine Mercy, still in Ozubulu.

In fact, on May 1, 2017, the governor was billed to inaugurate some of the roads Ikegwuonu tarred in his community.

Although it couldn’t be confirmed if the governor later did, the commissioning was to hold alongside Ikegwonu’s 36th birthday celebration at St Philip’s, same church where the bloodbath took place two months after. Pictures of what seemed to be the event where late uploaded on the internet

Ikegwuonu is also said to have a non-governmental organisation – Ebubechukwu Uzo Foundation Ozubulu – which is focused on members of his community as well as neighbouring communities.

Although there’s not much known about the NGO, its Facebook page shows pictures and details of programmes reportedly targeted at improving the lives of the people.

Among the organisation’s objectives, according to the page, is “to assist churches in various ways in order to bring people nearer to God.”

Other objectives are “to assist in the development of quality education for children, youth and adults” as well as “to help improve healthcare services for the people.”

A post made on March 9, 2016, said Ikegwuonu had instituted a salary scheme for the people of Ozubulu, including the aged.

“Chief Aloysius Nnamdi Ikegwuonu, Akuchinyere Nwata 1, Ebubechukwu Uzo Ozubuku, never forgets his promise to the people of Ozubulu,” the post read.

“Aside paying the aged people in Ozubulu, he includes the oldest men in Ozubulku like Okenye Amankwa, Egbema, Eziora and Nza. The four Obi in Ozubulu are now benefitting from Ebubechukwu uzo salary scheme.

“We, the people of Ozubulu will increase the fire in our daily prayers for Almighty God to give him more blessing and long life in Jesus name.”

Another post on the page dated May 1, 2015, shows a picture of pupils of Orumba Primary School at the birthday mass of Ikegwuonu, held in the same church – St. Philip’s Catholic church.

Ikegwuonu was also conferred with the ozo title – one of the most revered positions in Igbo land – by Igwe of Umuje (a.k.a Igwe Talu Nchara), according to a December 2014 post.

“Ebubechukwu Uzo receiving Ozo title as Uzochukwu Kwalu 1 of Umuje Anyamelum LGA on 14th Decemeber, 2014, after which he collected the title with the sum of N500,000,” the post read.

“The Igwe of Umuje said he gave the title to Chief Alloy because of his kind gesture to indigenes of Umuje.”

The police are yet to release detailed information on the attack.

The notorious ritual cult group, Badoo, Sunday struck in Ikorodu area of Lagos State, killing a couple and two of their children.

The couple were identified as Mr. and Mrs. Adejare. The third kid was said to be in a coma at the Ikorodu General Hospital.

A resident of the area was quoted as saying that the incident became known around 12pm when church members of the deceased checked on them on the way from church.

He said, “They had a special programme in their church today (Sunday). The members decided to check on them because they did not come to the church. They found the whole family in a pool of blood and raised the alarm. One of the three children was still breathing. He was rushed to the general hospital.

“There are burglar-proof bars on the windows in the house, except in the kitchen. They came through the kitchen. They tore the net and entered the house.

“We seem to have relaxed in securing the community because the attack subsided for some time. Even the police patrol has reduced.”

“The apartment was given to them by the church. The couple were on the bed, while the children slept on mats. Four of them were killed. Their corpses have been deposited in the Ikorodu General Hospital mortuary,” he added.

Reacting to the incident, however, the Lagos State police spokesperson, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, said the killings might have no connection with the Badoo cult, adding that the location of the family’s residence was not accessible to vehicles.

He said, “The house is just a room and parlour with one open window and no visible form of security. A family of five were attacked. Three died on the spot, one died while receiving treatment at a hospital and the last member is alive and responding to treatment.

“No visible trace of violence or clues linked to the cult was found. No stone was found at the scene. A case of murder is being investigated by police detectives, which doesn’t fit in the modus operandi of the cult.”

A highly elated Paseda expressed appreciation to members of the association on the joint decision to appoint his as the Patron.

“It is my desire to become the governor, to governor Ogun State.  And I am fully ready to sacrifice everything possible within my ability to the upliftment of the state,” Paseda, who is the founder of Paseda Legacy Foundation, said while narrating how he revived the UPN, a political party once founded by the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo in the Second Republic.
He added: “I am in UPN to use it as alternative platform to become the governor of the state to enable me have great opportunity to improve the lives of our people there.”
The governorship candidate, who recently declared that he would contest again in 2019, expressed appreciation to the members and promised to play his part as the Patron of the association.

Three gay men say they have gained legal recognition as the first “polyamorous family” in Colombia, where same-sex marriages were legalised last year.

“We wanted to validate our household… and our rights, because we had no solid legal basis establishing us as a family,” said one of the men, actor Victor Hugo Prada, in a video published by Colombian media on Monday.

He said he and his two partners, sports instructor John Alejandro Rodriguez and journalist Manuel Jose Bermudez, signed legal papers with a solicitor in the city of Medellin, establishing them as a family unit with inheritance rights.

“This establishes us as a family, a polyamorous family. It is the first time in Colombia that has been done.”

Lawyer and gay rights activist German Rincon Perfetti said there are many three-person unions in Colombia but this was the first one to be legally recognised.

“It is a recognition that other types of family exist,” he told AFP.

A ruling by the constitutional court in April 2016 made Colombia the fourth South American country to definitively legalise same-sex marriage, after Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay.

Sunday was reportedly abducted, tortured and later buried alive while on illegal duty at Ibeju Lekki.

He and four of his men were alleged to have been drafted to guard a land, which was under dispute by their Admin Officer (AO), at Ibeju Lekki.
According to a news source, the policemen were drafted to the disputed land without the knowledge of the Officer in Charge of SARS (OC) and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni.

The skeleton of the 45-year-old, a father of four children, was exhumed from a shallow grave after a six months’ search.
The police have arrested at least five persons including a traditional ruler, in connection with the murder of the inspector.
The newspaper reports that the police are hunting for one Mr Balogun, who led the hoodlums that attacked, abducted and buried Sunday alive.

It also reported that it was the fleeing Balogun that tied the hands of the Inspector before burying him alive. Balogun’s second in command, Arokin is in police custody and is helping the police with investigation.
The suspects, during interrogations, confessed to have buried the officer alive after starving him for more than five days.
They also admitted to have buried him alive on the orders of a traditional ruler, who has interest in the land under dispute.
Inspector Sunday was abducted sometimes in November, while guarding the disputed land. The abductors made away with his rifle. The Inspector, who was the leader of the team, was on duty with four other policemen.
The abductors, alleged to be armed to the teeth, stormed the land on that fateful day in November and overpowered Sunday, his policemen and civilian guards, patrolling the area.
Sunday was said to have been kidnapped when he confronted a large number of thugs from the other faction.
After his abduction, his phone stopped going through. His colleagues became frantic. Sunday’s wife and family members besieged the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, demanding to know what had become of him.
Speaking with journalists a few months after the abduction of Sunday, his wife, Halimat, 27, said that, “They were deployed there to maintain peace. We learnt that hoodlums were attacking a man, so my husband and his men moved to rescue the man. He told the other two policemen to go and put the man in the car so he could be safe.
“The hoodlums pounced on my husband and took him away. Sensing danger as the hoodlums kept increasing in number, his men ran away. Since then, we have not heard from him.
“Three months after, police kept telling us that they were on the matter. We learnt they have arrested the Prince that hired the hoodlums, but nothing has happened since then. His children keep asking after him. His aged mother, who has high blood pressure, has not stopped asking for his whereabouts. We don’t know what else to tell her.
“Nobody from the police cared to check on us, and now we don’t have money because we don’t have access to his ATM pin.
“I want my husband to come back. The children are suffering, and I can’t carry the load alone.”

Moji Olaiya, the late actress, who died in a hospital in Canada, will be buried at the Ikoyi Cemetery.

Yomi Fabyi, publicity secretary for Moji Olaiya’s burial committee, made the announcement Thursday night.

He, however, didn’t give a specific date for the burial or when her body will arrive in Nigeria.

His statement below…

“It is CONFIRMED that the remain of the Late thespian Moji Olaiya upon arrival from Canada will be buried at EBONY VAULT at Ikoyi Cemetery, Lagos.

The immigration procedure for the return of the body and child to Nigeria is at an advance stage, all documents secured and we shall loose no time to give exact details as soon as we have a green light from Canada.

“We appreciate your understanding and patience so far. T-SHIRT to wear on the day of the burial is now available. You can also get yours on the day of the Memorial and Artiste Night when announced.

“The family appreciate the media, friends, colleagues and fans for their continued love and patience so far. Kind regards.”

The day before yesterday we were told by the First Lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, that her husband was not as ill as most of us believed and that despite his obvious challenges he has continued to “carry out his responsibilities”.

On the same day the media went to great lengths to convince us, without providing any pictures, that the President had resumed work and that he had had a series of fruitful and productive meetings with his Minister of Justice and the Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) respectively.

They assured us that he would definitely preside over the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting which was scheduled to hold the following day.

All of these assertions proved to be false. Buhari has now missed his FOURTH Federal Executive Council meeting in a row due to his chronic and debilitating ill health.

Whoever is holding this poor, frail, sick and elderly man to ransom and keeping him in the Presidential Villa, probably against his will, is wicked and ungodly and he or she is committing a grave sin against God and the Nigerian people.

It is clear that the President is no longer fit to govern. It is obvious that his time is almost up. It is self-evident that for him the bell is tolling.

It is incontrovertible that those around him have held him captive and are indulging in what I once described in an essay that I wrote seven years during the last days of President Umaru Yar’adua as “corpsocracy”. The essay was titled ”Corpocracy: A Gift From Umaru To The Modern World”.

Simply put corpsocracy means the rulership of the living by the dead. It is the art of hiding a walking corpse, a comatose zombie or what some have described as the “living dead” in a cupboard in the Presidential Villa, telling the world that it is hale and hearty and then ruling and running the country in its name.

Such was the ruthless and cold-blooded deception that Yar’adua’s inner circle brought into the equation that they managed to convince the Nigerian people and indeed the entire world that a President that was totally comatose and literally brain-dead managed to sign the 2010 budget all the way from dream-land.

They also managed to conjure up a fake but convincing telephone interview with the BBC television service which millions of unsuspecting viewers, including yours truly, watched and listened to from all over the world.

Such was the angst of the management of the BBC when the truth was unearthed and they finally discovered that they had been misled, conned, duped and used that the northern Nigerian woman that organised the so-called “interview”, passing off Yar’adua’s brother’s voice as Yar’adua himself, was expeditiously and unceremoniously sacked.

Her name was Jamilah Tangaza and she was the head of the BBC Hausa service at the time. She was also a double agent of both the MI6, the United Kingdom’s secretive international spy agency and Nigeria’s external spy agency known as the National Intelligence Agency (NIA). One is constrained to ask: what have the Nigerian people not been subjected to or seen?

All these dirty games conducted in a sqaulid and sordid attempt to hold on to power at all costs. Yet worse of all are the nauseating mendacities that the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, keeps churning out. Yesterday he told us that Buhari did not attend the FEC meeting this week because he was “still resting”.

Equally amusing was the absurd assertion from the Minister of Transport, the pot-bellied creek-Haramite known as Rotimi Amaechi, who claims that he “is not corrupt” and that he “does not like money” and who told Nigerians that Buhari was now “putting on weight”, was “much better” and that he was “fit enough to run for the Presidency in 2019”.

Honestly one wonders if these creatures have any genuine love and compassion for their principal because if they did instead of telling us lies about his medical condition they would simply get on their knees and beg him to resign.

One wonders if they have any shame. It is very clear to me that they are all under an accursed hex or Luciferian spell. They have been bound and blinded in body, spirit and soul.

This is a classic case of the Living God hardening Pharaoh’s heart unto destruction. Yet sadly those in power, including Buhari himself, are so obsessed with that power that they cannot see it.

Instead of letting God’s people go and bringing to an end the wickedness, persecution, slaughter and destruction of their perceived enemies, the Buhari administration has gone into full throttle and unleashed even more havoc on members of the opposition and those that they hate.

A few examples will suffice.

A couple of weeks ago when my younger brother Mr. Deji Adeyanju, the stormy petrel of Nigerian political activism, together with his equally dynamic colleague Mr. Ariyo Dare Atoye, organised protest marches across the country demanding for the release of the great Biafran leader and irrepressible Igbo nationalist Prince Nnamdi Kanu, they were both promptly arrested and briefly detained by the police.

The same thing happened to them again in Abuja a few days later after they organised yet another demonstration, this time calling for the release of two online bloggers and journalists, Mr. Austin Okai and Miss Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo.

It didn’t stop there. Two days ago the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU) went on a march in Unity Square, Abuja protesting about the continued mass murder, genocide, butchering and ethnic cleansing of their Christian brothers and sisters and people by Buhari’s kinsmen, the Fulani militias and herdsmen.

Amongst their ranks was the courageous, refreshing, young, articulate, brilliant and bright rising star of Nigeria’s Middle Belt zone, Miss Ndi Kato.

Sadly instead of being treated with sensitivity and compassion and being given assurances that the killings would stop and the killers would be brought to justice, they were insulted, beaten, brutalised and dispersed with batons and tear gas by the Nigerian police.

When elements of the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) group led by Mrs. Aisha Yesufu joined them as a mark of solidarity, they were brutalised and dispersed as well.

Worse still Aliyu Babangida, the former Governor of Niger State, Sule Lamido, the former Governor of Jigawa state, Ibrahim El Zakzaky, the leader of Nigeria’s Shiite Muslims, Sambo Dasuki, the former National Security Advisor to President Goodluck Jonathan and countless other opposition leaders and opponents of the government remain languishing in detention cells and prisons all over the country whilst plans are afoot to frame up and arrest numerous others like the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu.

This is clearly a government and a President of “no going back”. Like Shakespeare’s Macbeth they are “so far steeped in blood that should they wade no more, returning would be as tedious as to go over”.

Yet the price for their chosen path, their sheer cruelty and callousness and their sanguine disposition is very high.

It is not just a matter of Buhari possibly dying in office as a consequence of whatever it is that has afflicted him but also what the aftermath of his death will bring.

Baba Bisi Akande, a leading member of the APC and one of the most revered and credible figures in the country, has already fired a warning shot on behalf of the Vice President and the south-west by saying that nobody should mistake 2017 for 1993.

For those that are too young to know what he is saying is that if Buhari dies no-one should dream of scuttling Professor Yemi Osinbajo’s succession and thereby deprive the south-west of the Presidency like they did in 1993 when Chief MKO Abiola’s mandate was annulled by the northern military simply because they did not want a southern President.

This is a timely and useful intervention by Baba Akande but sadly it has fallen on deaf ears. The cabal and the ultra-conservative core north (which is the constituency that Buhari represents) has already made up its mind.

As a matter of fact the spokesman of the Northern Patriotic Assembly issued a prompt response to him yesterday and warned him and other “leaders from the south-west” to desist from making what they described as “such immoral and despicable statements”.

Again at the instance of the northern elders and leaders, the APC Youth Wing issued an even sterner warning and advised Akande to “go for a physchiatric test” for suggesting that the ill health of the President was taking its toll on the nation.

As far as these people are concerned the Presidency of Nigeria belongs to the north and whether Buhari lives or dies, it must stay there.

Worse still their view is that if they cannot have it then nobody will. That is the beastly mindset of those that we are contending with. And those that suffer from it will certainly come to an equally beastly end.

The truth is that President Muhammadu Buhari, his evil administration and those that they represent are venal and malevolent. They have been rejected by the Living God.

His is a government of compulsive liars, sadistic tyrants, blood-thirsty psychopaths, closet kleptomaniacs, ethnic supremacists, radical Islamists, skull and bone diviners and voodoo merchants.

The fact of the matter is that whether they like it or not we are entering the end game. Everything is coming to a head. The next few months will be instructive and critical and much will happen that will surprise and shock the world and the Nigerian people.

To the spiritually sensitive and discerning one thing is clear: this dispensation is almost over. The beast is dying. The flesh is rotting. The vultures are gathering. The sky has turned black and a new era approaches.

Yet even in sickness, death and decay the tyrant and his followers revel in deception, treachery, doublespeak, blood-lust and wickedness.

My advice to them is to humble themselves and FEAR GOD before it is too late!

My counsel to them is to let this sick and elderly man resign in peace and allow him to go home to take care of his health and make his peace with God.

My appeal to them is to be sensitive to the Spirit and to recognise the fact that he has been struck and mortally wounded by the sword of the Lord.

My prayer to them is to accept the fact that he has been pierced with the arrow of God, he has been hit by the east wind of destruction, he has been afflicted with a deep spiritual wound and he is suffering from God’s judgement: it is time for him to GO!
