The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Joseph Eribo, has called on constables and officers of the command to operate with decency and professionalism irrespective of the situation.

Eribo, who made the call while rounding off his familiarisation tour of area commands in Ekiti State, affirmed that the command under his watch would not tolerate any act of indiscipline or attitude that could tarnish the image of the police.

While restating the commitment of the command to effective policing, the Commissioner of Police sought the cooperation of community stakeholders.

According to him, the police need the cooperation of stakeholders to access vital information needed to curb crime and criminality in the state, adding that most people shy away from disclosing the identity of criminals in their environment due to fear.

He asserted that such disposition would create an avenue for perpetrators to continue their criminal acts, which would affect the safety of every individual in the state.

Eribo said that Ekiti is adjudged one of the peaceful states in the country as a result of the collective work of every individual, hence, the need to support security agencies to ensure that they carry out their duties without bias.

On his part, the Assistant Superintendent of Police, Ado Area Command, Shittu Bolanle, noted that the visit was a morale booster for the police officers to give their best in the fight against crime in the state.

Reacting to the visit, some stakeholders representing the Yoruba, Igbo and Hausa communities promised their support to the police in the effort to combat crime in the state.
