The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Kebbi State has declared that while it is open to receiving defectors from other political parties, it will not compromise its existing leadership structure.
Chairman of the party in the state, Engr. Bala Sufiyanu, made this known during a press briefing on Sunday in Birnin Kebbi, amid preparations to receive a wave of defectors from the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
“We are glad to welcome new members who believe in the ADC’s vision and are ready to work for a better Kebbi State,” Sufiyanu stated.
“However, it must be clearly understood that our leadership positions are not up for grabs. The party’s structure remains intact, and no defector, no matter how influential, will be allowed to displace those duly elected to lead.”
Sufiyanu emphasized that no formal or informal agreement exists that requires current party officials to step down or make way for incoming members.
“I remain the legally recognized and constitutionally elected State Chairman of the ADC in Kebbi. There is no dispute about that, and we are not entertaining any form of leadership reshuffling to satisfy external interests,” he asserted.
He added that the party is steadily gaining ground ahead of the 2027 General Elections, with increasing interest from individuals and groups across various sectors.
“Our doors remain open to all well-meaning citizens who wish to join us in building a new political direction for Kebbi State,” he said.
“But unity and discipline within our ranks are non-negotiable. Leadership positions must be earned through the party’s democratic processes, not by political shortcuts.”
Sufiyanu also reaffirmed the ADC’s resolve to contest and win all key elective offices in the 2027 polls, noting that strategic planning and grassroots mobilization are already in motion.
