Israeli President Isaac Herzog has praised the United States Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, for his strength and tenacity in handling government affairs.
“Actually, I don’t know how you sleep, but we are very honoured to have you in Israel,” Herzog said on Monday at a meeting in Jerusalem.
The president described Rubio’s dual role as Secretary of State and National Security Advisor as “an incredible job description.”
Speaking on the visit, which coincides with the fifth anniversary of the signing of the Abraham Accords, Herzog commended America’s efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East.
The agreements, signed between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the representatives of Morocco, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates, were brokered by President Donald Trump during his first term.
Herzog said that “despite all the storms of the Middle East,” and the allies’ dedication to keep the Accords going, it is very important to bring more partners to these agreements.
Speaking, Rubio thanked the leadership of Israel, Morocco, Bahrain, and the UAE for their commitment to ensuring that the Accords attain the set goals.
He agreed that the existing partnership “needs to be strengthened, built upon, and expanded,” announcing that other countries have expressed an interest in being part of it.
President Trump’s second term is working to build upon the foundation of the Abraham Accords and expand it to more countries, the Secretary emphasised.
Secretary Rubio is in Israel to discuss the nation’s security and ongoing efforts to defeat Hamas and release all remaining hostages in Gaza.
