The headquarters of the 26 Armoured Brigade of the Nigerian Army has called on residents of Birnin Kudu in Jigawa State and surrounding communities not to panic over gunfire during a scheduled military exercise in the area.

This was contained in a statement issued to DAILY POST by the Garrison Commander, Lieutenant Colonel PJ Miri Dashe, on Saturday.

The Army said the range exercise will start from Monday, March 30 to Wednesday, April 1, at the Police Shooting Range, Birnin Kudu.

The statement emphasized that the sounds of gunfire that may be heard during the period will be part of a routine training exercise and should not cause apprehension among residents.

However, the Army advised members of the public to stay away from the shooting range and its surroundings throughout the exercise for their safety.

According to the statement, such training drills are essential for maintaining the operational readiness of troops, improving their weapons handling skills, and ensuring they are well-prepared to respond effectively to security challenges.

Residents were urged to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies, as the exercise is aimed at strengthening the capacity of personnel to protect lives and property.
