Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested a 64-year-old man, Julius Oseyomon and 54-year-old Abraham Erumosele Momo for alleged cultism.

The Command also arrested 27-year-old Solomon Oboigbe and 26-year-old Fidelis Omale for the same offence with firearms.

The Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Eno Ikoedem disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday, March 25, 2026 in Benin City.

Ikoedem said the suspects were arrested on March 24, 2026 at about 0200hrs by operatives of Uromi Division.

She said the suspects are from Ewoyi Quarters, residents of Atani and Eco Obedo all in Uromi.

The Command’s image maker added that the operatives acting on credible intelligence carried out a well-coordinated operation that led to the arrest of the four suspects.

She explained that during the operation, four English pump-action guns alongside nine live cartridges and three expended cartridges were recovered from the suspects.

Ikoedem also added that preliminary investigation indicated that the suspects are members of the Eiye Confraternity and that the recovered firearms were obtained through illegal means.

She said the suspects have since been arraigned before court for prosecution, having conducted diligent investigation.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Command, Monday Agbonika commended the operatives for their professionalism and prompt response.

Agbonika reiterated the Command’s resolve to sustain the ongoing crackdown on cultism and other criminal activities and mopping up firearms across the State.

He urged members of the public to continue to support the Police with timely and credible information, assuring that all reports will be treated with utmost confidentiality.

He also assured that the Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents
