Theresa May is now UK’s Prime Minister in waiting after Andrea Leadsom pulled out

Monday, 11 July 2016 00:00 Written by

U.K. Home Secretary Theresa May looks set to become Britain’s second female prime minister after Andrea Leadsom, the energy minister and rival for the Conservative leadership, dropped out of the race to succeed David Cameron.

Speaking outside her home on Monday, Leadsom said: “The referendum result demonstrated a clear desire for change. Strong leadership is needed urgently to begin the work of withdrawing from the European Union.”

She said that the nine-week leadership campaign ahead was not in the best interests of the country, and that “we now need a new prime minister in place as soon as possible.”

And Leadsom added that her support among Conservative MPs was not high enough “to lead a strong and stable government should I win the leadership election.”

Leadsom had secured the support of 84 MPs in a secret ballot, which put her in second place behind May, who had the backing of 199. The pair had been set to battle it out for the top job in a nine-week campaign before a vote among the party membership.

Whether May now automatically takes the leadership, and thus takes over from Cameron as prime minister, is expected to be formally confirmed this afternoon. Britain’s only female prime minister, Margaret Thatcher, was in office from 1979 until 1990.

Graham Brady, the chairman of the party’s 1922 committee that runs the leadership election, told reporters on Monday that May was the “only remaining candidate” but that he needed agreement from the party’s board before he would be able to “formally confirm” if she had won as a result of Leadsom’s decision.

Leadsom was the only remaining candidate who had backed a “Brexit” vote in Britain’s EU referendum, and many on the Euroskeptic right of the Conservative party and in the anti-EU U.K. Independence Party (UKIP) had hoped she would win, amid delays on the formal implementation of the U.K.’s departure from the EU.

But on Monday, Leadsom said that May was “ideally placed to implement Brexit on the best possible terms for the British people,” and stressed that the home secretary had “promised that she will do so.”

Relatively inexperienced at the highest levels of national politics, Leadsom appeared to have reacted badly over the weekend to a story published in The Times on Saturday that claimed she had said she would be better as prime minister than May because she had children. She apologized to May, who is childless, but said her words were misinterpreted and described the pressure of the race as “shattering” in a Daily Telegraph interview published Monday.

Others in the party had also expressed concern about the potential dangers of electing a leader unpopular among MPs. Paul Goodman, editor of the influential ConservativeHome website, had urged his readers to vote for May for this reason. “A win for [Leadsom] in the second stage of the contest would be a Jeremy Corbyn victory—in other words, an empty one,” he wrote.

President Buhari Praises Cameron’s Statesmanship, Courage

Saturday, 25 June 2016 00:00 Written by

President Muhammadu Buhari Friday said he regrets the resignation of British Prime Minister David Cameron, which will come into effect in October.

President Buhari said Nigeria has enjoyed remarkable goodwill, support and understanding under the capable leadership of the outgoing Prime Minister over the years.

The President said Cameron’s resignation in response to the outcome of a referendum that supported Britain to leave the European Union “was a demonstration of courage by a democratic leader who respects the will of the people, even if he didn’t agree with their decision.”

President Buhari noted that by ‘‘putting the will of the people before his political future, the Prime Minister proved himself to be a selfless leader with respect  for democracy and voter sovereignty.’’

The President expressed hope that Nigeria looks forward to greater cooperation and consolidation of shared interests with Britain, despite  the outcome of the referendum.

People flee in panic after vibrating sex toy in garbage bin was mistaken for bomb

Thursday, 24 March 2016 00:00 Written by

People fled in panic after hearing vibrating sounds coming from inside a garbage bin and believing that a bomb is about to explode, police in Italy said.

Modena police said that residents fled in panic and called firefighters after believing that terrorists hid a bomb in the garbage bin in Wednesday night.

Firefighters rushed to the scene, and an area of 200 meters was cordoned off.

A special unit inspected the garbage bin and they soon realized that the device was not a bomb. After being thoroughly checked, the device was identified as a sex toy.

The owner of the toy threw it away with the batteries inside and it began vibrating in the garbage bin, promoting the bomb scare.

Where did she go? Internet is baffled after woman 'DISAPPEARS' on live TV

Sunday, 20 March 2016 00:00 Written by

This is the crazy moment a woman seemed to disappear on live television.

In the background of an airport interview for Sports Center on Danish TV a woman is there one minute...and not the next.

As a man speaks to an interviewer at Copenhagen Airport for television network TV2 people can be seen milling around a baggage carousel collecting their luggage.

But as the former walks off past the second woman, the latter seems to disappear totally from view flabbergasting the internet and somewhat distracting from the interview at hand.

A possible explanation is that the woman with the trolley simply eclipses her friend as they move forward as feet can be spotted, albeit for a flash.

The video has now been viewed on Imgur over 3million times.

'The Matrix is broken again' one person jokes.

Another writes, 'Okay that's the creepiest thing I've seen in a while. Almost hope it's fake!'

But others are more rational: 'Watch for the reflection in the silver trash can...I thinks it's a trash can. Also, you can see the 'disappearing' woman's left heel.'

But as the former walks off past the second woman, the latter seems to disappear totally from view flabbergasting the internet and somewhat distracting from the interview at hand

Tesco offers job to man who stole from store to feed his family

Sunday, 20 March 2016 00:00 Written by

Tesco has offered job to a man caught shoplifting in one of its stores after learning that he did so to feed his family.

The 31-year-old was caught by security staff stealing food worth the equivalent of about £5 at a Tesco branch in Bukit Mertajam in Malaysia.

However after discovering that the man had stolen the food to feed his young son, the Tesco hypermarket decided not to press charges – and offered him a job instead.

‘I had to quit my job as a contract worker after my wife fell into a coma during a birth complication last week,’ said the man, who wishes to remain anonymous.

‘She is still in the Bukit Mertajam hospital.’

The man was returning from visiting his wife at the hospital with his two-year-old son when he passed by the store.

He explained that they had been walking for over an hour because they did not have enough money for a bus ticket.

‘I went straight to the food section and grabbed some pears, apples and a few bottles of drinks,’ he said.

He was brought before general manager Radzuan Ma’asan after security caught him in the act, but Mr Ma’asan decided not to call the police.

‘The man’s situation really touched our hearts,’ he said.

‘We visited his relative’s house. It was so empty and poor.

‘In my 23 years of experience in the retail line, I had never come across thieves who admitted to their crime so easily. He also told us that he was unable to work as he has to look after his three children, aged two to seven.’

The man’s wife is now out of the coma, but she lost her baby during a difficult birth.

Tesco has not decided what job to give the man, but they have already given him money to cover his current expenses.

My life under threat for fighting slavery – Prof Alexia Thomas, Chairman, TCLP, UK

Sunday, 03 January 2016 00:00 Written by

Professor Alexia Thomas, Chairman, The Commonwealth Liberation Party and Chieftain, Commonwealth Alliance Treaty Commission in United Kingdom has been at the fore-front of fighting against the acts of slavery, injustice and dehumanization of United Kingdom Border Agency, UKBA against Commonwealth citizens.

But it appears that the strides she has made in nearly two decades seem not to be going well with some people at the United Kingdom Border Agency (UKBA).

‘Royal Mother’, as fondly called spoke on how she was stalked daily as well as calls from anonymous phone lines. At a point, she uncovered that a third party had bugged her phones.

In a letter she wrote to the Commissioner of Police, Metropolitan Police, New Scotland Yard dated 24th July 2008, and titled: ‘UKBA Personnel Plot, Decoy to Assassinate me and Eliminate my Family”, she narrated that her life was threatened daily by some personnel of UKBA, especially from Oakington and Collinbrook detention centers, because I fight against the injustice orchestrated on Commonwealth citizens.”

”As an activist, an advocate, it is my will to fight for social justice and liberty for Commonwealth citizens and the Black Race. The oppression of Commonwealth citizens and Black Race in detention centers like Oakington, Collinbrook and many more should never be undermined because the truth of the saint cannot protrude against the saint.

“I have heard enormous support from the government, the Prime Minister, Prince of Wales and Her Majesty The Queen. This is because the Government has proven justice to the vulnerable is freedom, an act to wilful their redemption, this can never be denied.

She listed the clandestine monitoring of her activities by stating that: “The personnel of UKBA has persistently tailed me, spy on me and quietly budged my phones. In their decoyed stunt, they make anonymous people call me to set me up by faking the names of different government agencies. I am persistently followed and monitored because I speak the truth and I speak justice to fight against the slavery act of UKBA against Commonwealth citizens in the 21st century.

“Some personnel of UKBA have informed many detainees of their desire to assassinate me. And that I am been monitored daily. If justice for my people is meritable by my quest, then the plot to eliminate the genuine course of my combat must not be covered up. I have persistently questioned the the credibility of UKBA. The positive stands of my action are recognized by the UK Government.

”Detailed below are evidence of the government recognition for every submission I made to the government on my stand in support of the government good governance and my odds opposing oppression of Commonwealth citizens.

”Rather than the UKBA recognizing my excellent endeavour for standing to eradicate the suffering of my people, my country and my nation; instead they are plotting to kill me because I fight against oppression of the Black Race and Commonwealth citizens.”

In her letter copied to Prince of Wales, Prime Minister, Secretary of State Home Office, Professor Thomas sought for the following protection to show her security alert at 98 percent: “To protect the personal information and that of my family from public register, to register my statement for any assassination attempt made on my life, my only attacker I envisaged are personnel of UKBA; to investigate whom amongst the UKBA personnel wants me dead, to issue a restriction warning that anybody who wants an audience with me must officially request an official appointment from me, if the source of the person is known by me; then it is at my discretion to invite the person.”

”Also, to restrict any government agency direct contact at my home, unless in my office premises with my permission. I will stand by my God as my first security and now I request the Metropolitan Police Authority to take my security alert paramount. The act to rub me of my life is an extent to undermine my consistent questioning of the provocative oppression of my people. My actions are just by my reality from their realms.”

Responding, Sonia Bonici, Senior Correspondence Officer, Buckingham Palace, said “Further to our telephone conversation 7th July, I write to thank you for your fascimile letter and enclosures which were received in this office this morning. As we discussed, I am forwarding your letter to the Police Department in Buckingham Palace, so that your further approach to The Queen may be known and considerations given to the points you raise.”

Similarly, the Metropolitan Police through Madhu Dodia, representing the Commissioner’s Private Office wrote under Reference Number 2008070007060: “I wish to acknowledge receipt of your fax dated 24 July addressed to the Commissioner, Sir Ian Blair. This correspondence has been forwarded to Commander to Commander Ian Quinton, to arrange for a response to be sent to you as soon as possible regarding the issues raised.”

Professor Alexia Thomas, however, insists that she would not be deterred in her struggle of fighting to securing freedom by legal means for the Black Race and Commonwealth citizens.

“Safety is only in the hands of God,” she adds.

British Mum Leaves Baby to Die During 9-Hour S*x Romp With a Nigerian Lover

Wednesday, 16 December 2015 00:00 Written by

A mother out of neglect to her motherly duties dramatically abandoned her child to die during lengthy hours of s*x with her Nigerian lover.

A white woman named Yvonne Adkins was taking part in a booze-fuelled nine-hour s*x romp with lover Omoleye Babatunde Peter as her three-month-old baby lay on a sofa downstairs.

Adkins, 32, necked whisky before taking her s*x partner, who she had met just one week earlier at a bus stop, upstairs leaving baby Shanelle on a sofa with her sister. The baby, who had suffered from reflux and vomiting since birth, was found lifeless the following morning wearing only a tiny tracksuit and no blanket or bed clothes.

Paramedics were called to property in Meir, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffs, who found the baby unresponsive and performed CPR. She was rushed to Royal Stoke University Hospital but despite the efforts of doctors she was pronounced dead at 8.05am.

Today, an inquest heard how Adkins who has six children with four different men showed “no emotion” as paramedics battled to save the child’s life. It also emerged social workers had visited her several times in the weeks leading up to the tot’s death after receiving an anonymous tip-off by a concerned neighbour.

Sylvia Coleman, from Stoke-on-Trent City Council, visited the family after concerns were raised about Adkins allowing her sister with learning difficulties to care for the children.

Adkins was charged to court where she pleaded guilty to cruelty of a child at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court and was given an 18-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.
